Gunsynd Classic 2012 Abandoned Due To Wet Weather

April 28th, 2012

The 2012 Gunsynd Classic will not go ahead at Eagle Farm Racecourse after Victory Stakes Day was abandoned due to heavy rain today April 28, 2012.

The race will now be run this Wednesday May 2, 2012, at Doomben Racecourse as part of the mid-week program.

Racing Queensland chief steward Wade Birch called off the entire meeting upon inspecting the track at 8am (AEST) this morning.

“The track has received around 50 millimetres of rain since it started last night about seven o’clock,” Birch said.

“There was a lot of surface water around the track but there was a bad section covered with water at the 1100 metres.”

A total of 18 horses plus one emergency has accepted to run in today’s 2012 Gunsynd Classic, with many of them due to have their first-up start for the winter carnival.
